Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls in Teaneck, NJ was looking for a modern theater technology system for their newly constructed multipurpose room. This stage would serve as a hub for the school’s productions, assemblies, education, and more.

The Puretek design team with help from our partners at Northeast Stage comprehensively designed a complete stage system including lighting, power distribution, controls, rigging, and drapes. Professional training was provided on site to empower staff and students at Ma’ayanot Yeshiva HS to maximize use of their new multipurpose room theater.

Challenges

  1. As a new construction, no existing infrastructure existed to reuse or guide installation. Careful design would have to be implemented to ensure proper operation and simple installation.
  2. Client required a full-scale turnkey solution including stage lighting, rigging, and drapery from design through installation and training.
  3. System requires flexibility to serve multiple school functions including productions, assemblies, lectures, and classroom.

The Solution:

Puretek prioritized ensuring the dreams and goals of Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School were met and exceeded in regards to their newly constructed multipurpose room and stage. As such, school leadership was consulted and a customized solution based on client use, requirements, and budget was developed by the Puretek design team.

The lighting system would consist of:

  • (12) properly focused LED spotlights for full-color front-of-house fill lighting
  • (21) RGBW LED par lights with autozoom divided into three over-stage rows to provide flexible stage lighting options
  • (1) 10” touchscreen controller pre-programmed by Puretek with client requested presets for quick system access and simplified usage for guests
  • (1) pro-grade lighting console with (2) 24” touchscreen monitors for full access and customization of lighting for trained staff members.
  • A power/controls distribution infrastructure ready for system expansion and integrated rentals.

To ensure a smooth implementation process, Puretek served as project manager and brought in help from trusted partners, Northeast Stage to support rigging and drapery specification and installation. At the conclusion of the install, comprehensive training was provided to staff to empower and inspire Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School staff and students to run astonishing productions.

Stage rigging supports drapery and stage equipment including lighting fixtures and the power & controls distribution they require to run.  Typical rigging options include dead-hung (does not move), manually operated (pulley system to lower and raise rigging for simpler access to suspended equipment), or motorized (dynamic rigging that can add a wide array of dazzling effects to live performances).

Between its precarious overhead positioning and heavy loads supported, improperly supported rigging is a major hazard.  ETCP (Entertainment Technician Certification Program) are rigorously trained in the physics, techniques, and regulations to ensure safe, high-performing, and long-lasting rigging.
