Project Overview: Fallsburg Central School District Junior Senior High School Theater Upgrade

ETCP Compliant Rigging Replacement

Remedy safety and operational failures by replacing existing rigging and drapery system to meet OSHA and ANSI code compliance.  Includes delivery, lift rental, rigging labor, basic training, and miscellaneous materials.  All rigging work to be ESTA ETCP-certified and to meet professional workmanship standards.

Overview of rigging installation includes:

  • Adjust purchase lines, floor tension blocks, rope locks, and spreader plates on (7) counterweight sets.  Adjust wire guides and add turnbuckles as necessary.
  • Remedy specific issues including adjust line set # 7 interference when out and correcting issue on line set # 4 which prevents full travel.
  • System wide checks and adjustments including checking & tightening nuts & bolts on pipe clamps, checking mousing on all turnbuckles, investigating and addressing control panel labeling, and checking for and adding safety cables on all fixtures
  • Additional work including painting face of counterweights yellow indicating pipe weight, lubricating floor pulley sheaves, adding 1,000lbs counterweight, and deploying, adjusting, and resetting fire curtain.

Custom Drapes for FCSD JSHS

All curtains and drapes will be certified for NFPA Standard 701: Standard Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films which ensures their fire safety status.

Furnish and install new drapery at the Fallsburg Central School District Junior Senior High School Theater.  All curtains and drapes to be comprised of inherently flame retardant theater fabric (IFR). Delivery, lift rental, rigging labor, basic training and miscellaneous materials are included.

Overview of drapery installation includes:

  • Add pipe and drape as pit barrier to consist of (7) P103 3′ fit uprights, (7) B508 8″x14″ slip fit bases, (6) C405 5′-8′ drape supports and (12) pipe and drape panels 3’x52′ in Charisma black.  New Draper to consist of (1) pair Valance 25oz Charisma curtains in grey with 50% fullness and custom logo provided by client, (1) pair border and (2) pair traveler 25oz Charisma Poly Velour curtains in blue, (1) border lined, (1) pair traveler, (1) pair rear and (1) pair panels 25oz Charisma Poly Velour curtains in black, (2) house door panels with track and (1) skirt with hook and loop velcro.
  • Additional work to include repairing 2nd light blue traveler track, and adding (1) dead hung pipe and IFE seamless white Muslin Cyc curtain.

Stage & Auditorium Lighting Upgrade

Furnish a new theatrical lighting technology system including infrastructure, controls, and LED stage, house, and specialty lighting equipment.  Project management, technical support, commissioning, programming, start-up, submittals, (1) day system and console training and all other design-related tasks necessary for manufacturer recommended system operation are included.  All stage lights come with DMX control cables, Stagepin Powercon jumpers, C-Clamps or Omega brackets and safety cables.

Theatrical lighting technology system includes:

  • Controls and Infrastructure: Furnish a new Vari-Lite/Strand theatrical stage dimming infrastructure equipped for LED lighting functionality, temporary and permanent expansions, and multiple points of control access.  Controls include 10″ touchscreen controls with presets, (4) pushbutton entry stations, and (1) ETC Ion XE 2K Console with (2) 20″-24″ Touchscreen monitors, (1) dust cover, and (8) DMX Networking points.
  • Stage Lighting: (10) Stingray Profile RGBW 250w Ellipsoidals with 26° Lens for FOH color-changing spot lighting, (20) Strand Acclaim RGBL Manual Zoom LED Spotlights for front, box boom and side fill spot lighting, (8) Strand Acclaim RGBL LED Fresnels for overstage lighting, (16) Strand Acclaim Eventpar RGBL LED lights for stage uniform color wash; (8) Altman Spectra Cyc100 RGBW Static Cyc lights and (1) 350W LED LED Followspot w/ Base and Casters for manual spot lighting.
  • Moving Lights: (6) Chauvet Rogue R2X Wash LED RGBW Wash Movers for specialty lighting applications and (2) Maverick Force S Spot LED Moving Head Luminaires with custom school logo gobos.
  • RGBW Fin Lighting: Furnish (8) ArchituraLED 8ft RGBW LED Strip custom low profile fixtures in white finish to replace existing wall wash fixtures. New wall wash fixtures will be tied into stage and architectural lighting controls for color wash control during events or via entry stations.
  • Aisle Lighting: Furnish a new carpet/floor LED aisle lighting system with Amber Clear Diffuser.
  • House Lighting: Furnish (74) 26W LED high output Par38, 3000K 120V Dimmable Bulb w/ E26 Base, (3) LED Vaporproof blue lights, (6) 150W LED work lights and upgrade lighting in backstage and booth to LED. Equipment required to comply with Building Codes 1008.2.1 and 1008.3 for the automatic restoration and illumination of house and backstage lighting to consist of: (1) 1500W Central Lighting Inverter Emergency Bypass, (1) UL1008 listed branch circuit emergency lighting control devices, (3) emergency backups. Scope to also include LED upgrades of misc. backstage and booth lighting.

System includes industry-leading ETC Ion XE Lighting Console with (2) Touchscreen Monitors.

Chauvet Rogue R2X Moving Lights are industry standards for performances from touring concerts to Broadway plays.

Aisle lighting will improve the auditorium’s aesthetic while improving the safety of attendees.

Pro-Audio and HD Projection

The Allen & Heath QU-24 Digital Mixer provides pro-grade audio control with optional remote functionality via iPad app.

High-end projection for lectures, films, and more via 17′ HD projection screen and 13,000-lumen laser projector.

Furnish a new sound and visual projection system with integrated Extron controls and new intercom system at the Fallsburg Central School District Junior Senior High School Theater.  Services scope consists of commissioning, programming, system start-up, custom preset programming, training, submittals, and all other related tasks necessary for a fully-functional integrated controls setup.

Audio-Visual Technology System Includes:

  • Projection: 110″ x 176″ with 208″ diagonal tensioned HD Progressive 1.3-gain project screen with 13,000-lumen laser projector.  All mountings and interconnections.
  • Audio: (2) adjustable coverage line array speaker columns with speaker extension, 2-channel commercial amplifier (2100W/channel at 4 ohms), advanced level power conditioning, and mounting & framing.
  • Microphones: (6) wireless handheld microphone systems and (6) wireless lavalier microphone + bodypack systems.  Transmitters/receivers, distribution, and connectivity materials.
  • Audio Controls: Allen & Heath QU-24 24-channel digital mixer. Wall-mounted Extron touchpanels located on stage (7″) and back stage (10″) for easily-accessed and simplified operation.
  • Infrastructure: A/V infrastructure includes 16×8 digital stage box for system expansion, professional audio feedback suppression, 8-input scaling presentation switcher for multiple inputs, Extron signal processors, transmitters, and receivers, and all system interconnections.
  • Intercom System: System to consist of the installation of (1) ClearCom Single-Channel 0.4 Amp Portable Power Supply; (5) Single Channel BeltPacks; (5) Single Ear Lightweight Headsets; (5) 1-Channel 3- pin Intercom Outlet Wall Plates.

Professional Education for Students and Staff

Provide professional training and comprehensive support to ensure successful system usage for Fallsburg Central School District Junior Senior High School and local community functions and events.

Support and Training Includes:

  • Comprehensive 5-day student training. Education will be led by corresponding Industry Professionals. Certificates will be given to students who attend all sessions and exhibit proficiency of educational outcomes. Training package to consist of (5) 2.5-hour sessions focused on STEAM learning opportunities and college-preparing theatrical technology training on topics including console operation, lighting & sound design, and theater engineering.
  • 1-Day on-site comprehensive console training for staff upon completion of system commissioning
  • (4) annual 1-day site visits to perform retraining and system maintenance and inspection
  • 5-year manufacturer’s warranty extension on all equipment, parts and fixtures.

Professional initial training and annual retraining on console operation ensures staff competence and confidence.
