David Brearley Middle/High School — Auditorium Technology Upgrade
Kenilworth Public Schools brought PureTek Group in to reimagine the auditorium at David Brearley Middle/High School, a space due for a technology update. Students and staff needed more than new equipment: they needed a system simple enough for a student stage manager to run on their own, yet capable enough to support a full theatrical production.
PureTek answered that with a ground-up rebuild spanning lighting, audio, video, and acoustics, all tied together through a single control platform. Rehearsals, assemblies, and performances now run through one interface instead of a patchwork of separate systems, putting real control in the hands of the people using the space every day.

unRAVL Unified Control System
At the center of the upgrade is the unRAVL platform, bringing lighting, audio, and video control into a single, intuitive touchscreen interface. Two touchpanels give staff control from wherever they’re working, one mounted on the back wall of the auditorium and one positioned backstage. Instead of learning separate systems for every piece of equipment in the room, staff and students at Brearley operate the whole auditorium from one consistent point of control.
Theatrical Lighting
PureTek Group upgraded the auditorium’s theatrical lighting system with new Chauvet fixtures and a Pathway architectural lighting control network, giving operators reliable, flexible control across the stage and house. The DMX distribution backbone was rebuilt to support future expansion, so additional fixtures or control points can be added without re-wiring the rig.
Audio Systems
A networked audio system built around an Allen & Heath matrix processor with Dante audio interfacing gives Brearley a flexible, professional-grade signal chain, while K-Array speakers and amplification deliver clear, even coverage throughout the auditorium.
Video & Projection
A new Optoma projector and motorized screen give the auditorium a reliable large-format video option for performances, assemblies, and classroom use, integrated into the auditorium’s broader control system for simple day-to-day operation.
Acoustic Treatment
New Primacoustic acoustic wall panels were installed to improve sound quality throughout the space, reducing unwanted reflections and helping both spoken word and performance audio come through clearly.
Wireless Production Intercom
A wireless intercom system was installed to support backstage and booth communication during productions, giving crew members reliable, untethered coordination across the auditorium.
NEC-Certified Electrical Labor
PureTek delivered NEC-compliant electrical labor to support the new lighting, audio, and control infrastructure throughout the auditorium, giving the space a safe, reliable foundation for every system installed.
Training & Services
PureTek provided hands-on commissioning and training for staff, ensuring the David Brearley team is equipped to operate every system with confidence from day one.
