New Rochelle High School — Whitney Auditorium Theater Upgrade

New Rochelle High School set out to bring its Whitney Auditorium up to the standard of a modern performance venue, replacing an aging theatrical system with the lighting, audio, video, and control infrastructure needed to support a full range of student productions, assemblies, and community events. PureTek Group delivered a complete theatrical technology overhaul built around a fully networked control platform, giving staff and students an intuitive, professional-grade space to perform in.

From rigging and drapery to lighting, audio, video, and production communications, every system in the auditorium was replaced and integrated to work together. The result is an auditorium that functions like a professional venue while remaining approachable for the students and staff who will run it every day.

Theatrical Lighting

PureTek Group installed a complete theatrical lighting system anchored by a professional lighting console, giving operators full control over 2,048 outputs across 20 faders. New LED fixtures, including ellipsoidals, cyc lights, and zoom wash luminaires, were hung and addressed across the FOH positions, torms, catwalk, and all four electrics. A DMX distribution network ties the rig together, while updated house lighting with new dimming controls gives staff simple, reliable control over the audience space.

High-End Audio Systems

A complete audio overhaul centers on a Yamaha DM7 120-channel digital console paired with Dante-networked I/O and Allen & Heath signal expansion, giving the space a flexible, professional-grade mixing environment. Front-of-house sound is handled by a dB Technologies line array system with dedicated subwoofers and center fill, delivering clear, even coverage throughout the house. A Sennheiser wireless microphone system, including handheld, beltpack, and headset options, rounds out the package for spoken word and performance use alike.

Proscenium Projection

A 17,000-lumen Optoma laser projector paired with a 324″ motorized Draper screen gives the auditorium a large-format video presence suited to performances, assemblies, and classroom use. The system integrates with the auditorium’s broader AV routing, giving staff a straightforward way to bring video content into any production.

unRAVL™ Unified Control System

At the center of the upgrade is the unRAVL platform, which brings lighting, audio, and video control into a single, intuitive touchscreen interface. Rather than requiring staff and students to learn separate consoles and software for every system, unRAVL gives operators one consistent point of control, making the auditorium approachable for first-time users while still giving experienced operators the depth they need.

ETCP-Certified Rigging

The auditorium’s fly system was upgraded with ETCP-certified rigging work, including new pipe positions and hardware built to current safety standards. All existing curtains and drapery were replaced with inherently flame-retardant theatrical fabric, refreshing both the look and the safety profile of the stage.

Wireless Production Intercom

A wireless intercom system was installed to support backstage and booth communication during productions, giving crew members reliable, untethered coordination across the auditorium.

NEC-Certified Electrical Labor

PureTek delivered NEC-compliant electrical labor to support the new lighting, power, and control infrastructure throughout the auditorium, ensuring a safe and reliable foundation for every system installed.

Training & Services

PureTek provided hands-on commissioning and training for staff, ensuring the New Rochelle team is equipped to operate every system with confidence from day one.
